Tarangire National Park

Baobabs, elephants and the Tarangire River

What it's like

Tarangire is a landscape of great baobab trees, open woodland and grassland, threaded by the Tarangire River. The river is an important water source in drier months, when wildlife often gathers along its course.

It pairs naturally with Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro on a northern route, or works as a full-day safari from Arusha.

Things to do

  • Game drives along the Tarangire River
  • Baobab landscapes and birdlife
  • Full-day safaris from Arusha or as part of a longer route

Planning notes

Travel considerations

  • Travel time from Arusha and park fees will be confirmed in your proposal.
  • Wildlife movements vary with rain and season; sightings are never guaranteed.

Seasons

Wildlife concentrations along the river are often greater in drier months. Your guide will advise on conditions closer to your dates.

Draft guidance — access rules, fees and seasonal details are confirmed in your proposal.
